Stan spent his final years at Mercy McMahon Terrace, a senior living community rooted in the compassionate mission of the Sisters of Mercy. In gratitude for the loving care shown to Stan, his family has requested that donations be made to Mercy McMahon Terrace in his memory. These gifts will help ensure that others receive the same exceptional care and support that Stan experienced.

Stan Atkinson

A three-time Emmy winner and one of Sacramento’s most beloved television news figures–reporting and anchoring broadcasts for KCRA and KOVR, Stan Atkinson was also a dear friend and steadfast supporter of Mercy Foundation for over 30 years–devoting his energy and leadership to furthering the mission of the Sisters of Mercy in Sacramento.

Stan served as a Mercy Foundation Board Trustee for over 20 years, including a year as Board Chair and received the Distinguished Service Award and Life membership. He was also instrumental in the success of Mercy All Star Weekend/Week (1992-2002) and offered his enthusiasm and ideas in many more acts of service and dedication.

Stan and his wife Kristen became members of Mercy Foundation’s McAuley Society in 2007, joining other donors who have made lifetime gifts totaling $25,000 or more. They supported many ministries, including the Alex G. Spanos Heart & Vascular Center. We are deeply grateful for their generosity and commitment to the Sisters of Mercy and appreciate their years of support.
